Crocetta is where Turin's professional class settled between the wars and never left. The streets are wider than the centre's, lined with plane trees, and the buildings are the confident 1920s and 1930s blocks that Italians call signorili — solid, generously proportioned, with a porter's lodge and a courtyard garden behind.
It is the most consistently expensive residential district in the city, and the least volatile. Demand comes from doctors at the Molinette, professors at the Politecnico two streets away, and families who want the centre without living in it.
The Saturday market on Corso De Gasperi is the best in Turin and a large part of why people who move here stop looking.
